Hidden Curve Elimination of Trimmed Surfaces Using B ezier Clipping

چکیده
Shaded display is popular for displaying curved surfaces because of the realistic appearance of the images produced. In the eld of computer aided geometric design, however, line drawings are more commonly used. For accurate evaluation of the curved surfaces in these designs, the conventional method of approximating curved surfaces with polygons is insu cient. In this paper we will present a method of hidden line elimination without resorting to polygonal approximation. The method provides the designer smoother, more precise isoparametric curves than traditional polygonal approximation methods. In addition, the method can draw precise silhouette curves, trimming curves, drawings of patterns represented by curves on the surface, and contour lines. Furthermore, the method is valid even for surfaces which penetrate each other.

Interactive Display of Large Scale Trimmed NURBS Models
We present an algorithm for interactive display of trimmed NURBS surfaces. The algorithm converts the NURBS surfaces to B ezier surfaces, tessellates each trimmed B ezier surface into triangles and renders them using the triangle rendering capabilities common in current graphics systems. It makes use of tight bounds for uniform tessellation of B ezier surfaces into cells and traces the trimming...

متن کاملParametric patches and volumes in function representation of geometric solids
We take an approach to specify and control implicitly dened n-dimensional free-form solid primitives using parametric functions of n variables. Outside of the domain, the parametric function value increases or decreases rapidly that is not suitable to design geometric objects. In this paper, we introduce a functional clipping operation which allows a free-form primitive to be treated as traditi...
